Turkiye ha estado situado entre las latitudes
36o 00' 00''- 42o 00' 00'' y longitudes 26o 00' 00'' - 45o 00 ' 00'' en el continente de Eurasia. Tiene un appearance grande típico de
lapenínsula y ha sido rodeado por tres masas importantes del agua: El Mar Negro de la
parte norteña, del Mar Egeo de la parte occidental y del mediterráneo del este de la
parte meridional. Además de éstos, el mar de Marmara ha formado una zona de la
transición entre el Mar Negro y el Mar Egeo con bosphorus y los dardanelles. Aunque tiene
una línea de la orilla de 8334 kilómetros, la plataforma continental es muy larga y la
profundidad alcanza raramente 1500 contadores en solamente aguas internacionales y así
que los mares exhiben principalmente el carácter neritic.
En Turkiye, como otros países mediterráneos, un clima mediterráneo típico prevalece y
la precipitación máxima ocurre entre November-March.
Las primeras tentativas en planktological investigan en Turkiye fueron sostenidas después
de 1935 en la universidad Istanbul con las ayudas científicas de algunos científicos
inmigrantes de Europa durante la segunda guerra mundial. En los años siguientes,
Ankara y las universidades de Ege ensamblaron a este grupo con sus departamentos de la
biología. Muchos de los estudios en planktology marina fueron observados por las
universidades Ege y Istanbul. En el mismo tiempo, las aguas de tierra adentro eran
investigadas principalmente por los científicos de Ege y de las universidades de Ankara.
Además de los departamentos de la biología,ordenaron la universidad Istanbul, a la
facultad de la ciencia, al instituto de investigación de la hidrobiología y la
universidad de Ege, facultad de la ciencia, departamento biológico de Oceanograpy en los
años siguientes. Desafortunadamente, estas organizaciones eran de breve duración.
El phytoplankton investiga ahora es en sus adolescencias en Turkiye. El primer documento
sobre phytoplankton marina había aparecido lo más probablemente posible en un diario
turco de la hidrobiología en las ' mareas rojas en 1955. El autor del artículo era
Wilhelm Numann al biólogo alemán. Ninguna referencia subsecuente aparece en la
impresión hasta 1960 en que vemos otra vez las ' mareas rojas en el título de un papel.
Esta vez los autores eran científicos turcos Altan Acara y U. Nalbantoğlu. Sin embargo,
aunque estos papeles de dos primeros ministros habían resumido uno del acontecimiento
más importante que trataba a la sucesión del phytoplankton en el Mar Egeo, eran
generales y los géneros y los nombres responsables de la especie no fueron mencionados.
Desde 1967 una serie de publicaciones en phytoplankton y protozooplankton ha estado en la
impresión para el Mar Egeo, mediterráneo, mar de Marmara y el Mar Negro de diversos
equipos de investigación.
